Error on Epson WF-7110 and WF-7710 printer with chipless key

Issue Encountered

Previously I used 3 Epson WF-7110 printers with chipless key and they worked well initially. However, after some time, an error message close ink cartridge cover along with error code 0x69 appeared, rendering the printer unable to function. I then switched to using 2 Epson WF-7710 printers also with chipless key, which initially worked fine but later encountered the same error.

Seeking Help

Unable to resolve the issue on my own, I sought help from the Admin as I was at a loss on what to do and was immensely grateful for any assistance provided.

Error Code Meaning

Both error codes 0x69 and 34503 indicate an ink system clutch operation contact point detection error, specifically the printer's inability to detect the closed cartridge cover. This issue has not been reported before and is likely related to the CISS system or cartridges setup.

Advisory

To troubleshoot, it is recommended to remove all components from the printhead, close the cover, and observe if the error persists when empty.

Admin's Response

The Admin provided a solution, suggesting a breakdown in the pumping system mounts may be the root cause of the error.

Speculation

Upon further investigation, it was suspected that Epson may have implemented restrictions to limit excessive printing activities post chipless key installation, leading to the recurring error messages.

Concluding Remarks

Considering the commonality and difficulty in resolving errors 0x69 and 34503, it was acknowledged that the issue likely stemmed from a malfunction in the pumping system mounts or the Printhead capping assembly, also known as the service station. These insights shed light on the complexity of the problem and the challenges in rectifying it.
